Apparently it can happen to teachers just as well as it can happen to students.

Freckled Homewrecker I'm a teacher and once my dog ate everyone else's homework. That was an awkward one to explain to students.

Sometimes it is not that funny, and you definitely shouldn’t try to make your dog eat your homework…

clamsandwich My mom was an elementary school teacher. One of her students came to her crying that her dog ate her homework. It was a puppy they had gotten a few weeks prior and it ate the homework and other papers and got really sick and had to be put down.

These kids think that they pulled off a smart mooove.

jangleberry112 I did my student teaching in a small rural community in north Texas with lots of farming and ranching families. Literally had kids come to school late because "the cows got out."

Isn’t it funny when someone is a denier all their life until karma comes to bite them?

LastNerve 1064 My new puppy ate an important document recently, so in future I will believe a student if they say a dog ate their homework.

Apparently paper shredding can be a passion in life, who knew?

oswald_dimbulb In junior high, my dog completely tore up my geometry homework (she liked tearing paper, and I left it on the floor). I copied it over from the shreds, then realized what an opportunity I had.

When you as a parent have to tell another adult something that sounds totally made up but is actually true.

Repulsive_Raise6728 I used to be a teacher and got a mostly chewed-up assignment one time with a note from a parent. She was like "I know this seems unbelievable...” We had a laugh.

Can you really get mad at a puppy paper eater?

Icy-Ad-6384 Not my dog but my tutors dog ate my homework. College tutor took my folder with all my work in it home with her to mark. She brought it back all chewed up by her new puppy. Luckily I saw the funny side of it and she replaced the folder

Teachers beware of how you react to things that might actually be true…

Jaded_Goose_4374 Mine did when I was in second grade and I told my teacher the next day at school. She yelled at me for lying and I lost recess. My mom tore her a new one when she picked me up that day

At least she brought forth all the evidence needed to prove the perpetrator was a pupper.

Cog7X Someone in my class got a new puppy and it ate the corner of her book. She bought it to school with a picture of the dog with bits of paper in its mouth and a sorry note

A two day extension? It should have been at least an automatic A.

Wolfie_Ecstasy Yes! It happened to me once. The teacher gave me a two day extension when I brought in what was left of it. Still have no idea why he ate it. He never did anything like that before or after.

Nothing more heartbreaking than losing your project the day before delivery.

randomly-what Yes. One of my student's had this happen like 10 years ago. He did his study guide that was due the next day. He left it on the kitchen counter and his family went somewhere. Came back and the dog shredded it into pieces.

When your homework poses a challenge to the reader…

lonely40m This happened to me when I was in the 7th grade, but my dog didn't chew it up that bad, it was still readable, mostly just a lot of drool and some bite marks and punctures. I had already finished it, and that was obvious, and got a good laugh from my teacher.

Finally technology is catching up to canines.

Ready_Bandicoot 1567 Probably more common than you'd think. My dog doesn't do this anymore but when he was a pup he would grab and shred any paper he could reach. I did actually have some homework stuff shredded a couple times. Luckily all I had to do was re-print it.
